Interim Vice President, Human Resources

Our client is a service organization with a proud history of over 50 years.  Their services are critical to the well-being of its members.  We are currently seeking an Interim Vice President, Human Resources to lead the function.  We are seeking a strategic individual who will lead a strong team through the process of bringing consistency to Human Resources Management practices and align the with the business functions. 

The Vice President, Human Resources is responsible for the development of Human Resources strategy and participating in the organizational strategic planning process.  They will lead a diverse team of HR professionals in developing annual Human Resources plans and directly managing human resources activities that enable the organization to attract, develop and retain the professionals needed to deliver on its mission. The VP, Human Resources will be responsible for the development of unified policies and procedures, delivery of recruitment, development, retention, total rewards, HR technology and employee support to ensure that the business delivers on its promise of operational excellence.
Some near-term goals for the Vice President, Human Resources are:
  • Lead the Human Resources team through the the establishment of a single, robust set of practices.
  • Create an HR Technology strategy and the first key projects.
  • Drive the implementation of the HR strategy in areas such as HR Analytics, Talent Management and Onboarding.
Profile sought:
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field is required, an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience in a business unit leadership role and significant experience as a senior HR leader.
  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.
  • Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of human resources specialists
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Superior relationship building, listening and management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Stature, gravitas, and confidence to gain the credibility and respect of senior leadership and influence the business agenda.
  • Highly adaptable, self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented.
  • A persuasive communicator, energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with all levels of staff.
This is an Interim role for 12 months with the intent of going full-time.  The location is downtown Toronto.
