CFO - Real Estate

Our client is an entrepreneurial family owned business with a culture of success based on loyalty, performance and respect. The organization is expanding their real estate and construction business and has a need for a CFO to operate as a business partner in this financially sound business with multiple locations in Ontario.
 
The Chief Financial Officer is a key leader reporting to the COO and President of the company, providing operations finance leadership and business guidance in growing the organization and achieving the objectives of the company. This role will ensure current finance and accounting needs are met as well as scaling the infrastructure for future growth. Responsibilities include leading the financial and management reporting processes to provide quality, decision support data to the executive and leadership teams. Manage and coach the finance team, provide oversight to the overall accounting infrastructure of the group of companies, create a culture of continuous improvement and implementation of new processes and systems. Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, manage critical cash flow needs and provide oversight to legal and external banking and audit requirements.  This is an exciting time to join the company due to growth with potential for M&A, providing strategic guidance for the expansion of the real estate and construction divisions and upskilling the finance team. 

In order to be considered for this role, you will possess the following:
  • CPA Designation with 10+ years' experience in an accounting leadership role, with a successful progressive career.
  • Real estate development, Construction or Property Management industry experience required.
  • Expertise in evaluating, recommending and implementing financial best practices and policies and procedures (ideally as they apply to the construction and development industry).
  • Financial Planning & Analysis expertise, leading and maintaining solid budgeting processes, including financial modeling, cash flow modeling and forecasting.
  • An effective communicator, with strong verbal and written skills, strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Solid technology skillsets including proficiency GL systems, MS- Office and ideally experienced with real estate/ construction software an asset. Mature and proactive with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the leadership team.
