Overview of the General Manager Role
Our client seeks a dynamic General Manager who plays an essential leadership role within the company. The GM holds significant responsibility to lead the sales, operations, and planning functions along with full P&L ownership, working closely and collaboratively with the leadership to build upon their current systems and work on scaling the business. The business has an established operations team. This role would suit a V.P. Sales with manufacturing B2B experience who would like to make the jump up into their first GM role. The role would be weighted 50% sales and business development primarily in to B2B consumer and retail channels. 30% operations, working with the team to improve efficiencies. 10% P&L ownership and 10% people and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of business processes and functions, including operations, finance, HR, procurement, and other key areas.
  • Develop and implement effective go-to-market and sales strategies.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key partners and vendors.
  • Manage and optimize the company's P&L, with a focus on aggressive revenue and volume growth.
  • Uphold and enhance the company's culture, aligning with the leadership vision of a collaborative and engaging work environment.
  • Lead the sales leadership and team to develop and execute an effective growth plan while uncovering opportunities to provide solutions to existing and new customers.

Key Qualifications
  • Proven track record as a General Manager, ideally VP of Sales or in comparable executive positions, highlighting successful leadership in driving business growth.
  • Strong background in sales and commercial operations, demonstrating a strong understanding of market dynamics and effective sales strategies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business processes and functions, including operations finance, HR, procurement, and other key areas.
  • A track record of successfully overseeing P&L responsibilities in previous roles, showcasing the ability to strategically manage financial performance.
  • Exceptional leadership skills characterized by a calm and measured approach, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Possesses a high level of confidence and the ability to effectively manage challenging interpersonal situations through the change management process.
  • Resilient and can adapt to changes in the work environment and showcase flexibility in response to evolving company culture and priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.

Working Arrangements
  • This is an on-site role at the company’s Markham, ON area headquarters.
