Our client is a non-profit corporation owned by the government.  It plays an important coordinating role between provincial organizations supporting a wide range of social services and programs.  Although a non-profit, the organization operates with a strong for-profit business perspective.

The organization is in search of a new Controller. This is the most-senior Finance role, reporting to the Executive Director.  You will be responsible for the full suite of financial accountabilities, including cost management and reporting; budgeting; management reporting; government filings, etc.  You will also manage treasury and investments. You will manage two direct reports, in accounting and office admin.  And in addition, you will lead and/or participate in a number of inter-organizational committees of the board.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
  • A CPA designation, and strong hands-on finance and accounting experience
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience
  • A natural curiosity and desire to understand, and improve
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Experience presenting to Boards and Executive Management
  • Experience leading and developing a small team of direct reports
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
